Unfortunately, I couldn’t start the WSO for my new ebook this Monday because there were some problems with Paypal in combination with the Butterfly Script. The paid signup simply didn’t work.

2Checkout has announced that it’s now giving customers the option to pay for their purchases using Paypal. This doesn’t come as a big surprise since Clickbank had gone this way a little earlier as well.

Personally, I think, that’s great news and probably this is a good reason to revive my old 2Checkout account which has been dormant for a while because most of my own customers prefer Paypal over any other payment processor. What I am missing with Paypal are better statistical features, though. These are actually much better at 2CO. Since 2CO is also offering direct wire transfers, the delay for receiving your payments to your bank account is not that long. It’s definitely something to consider…

Other than direct sales and adsense, are there any other methods you can apply to make money from your blog?

Yes, there are several, but 4 are usually used more often than others:

1.) Lead Generation (CPA offers)

Of all the other methods you can make money from with your blog, lead generation may be the most promising. This is especially true if the market your blog is in is related to anything financial. Mortage and refinance leads are very good, as they bring in tiered commissions. You’ll earn your first tier commission when you generate the initial lead – which will simple entail getting someone to fill out a completely free form. This lead will earn you anywhere from $3 to $12. If this lead then goes on to refinance his/her home with the company in question, you could earn a windfall of several hundreds of dollars.

2.) Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing generally consists of either directly signing up as an affiliate through someone’s website – or signing up as an affiliate through a third party. You will then use your blog to market this person’s products for a share of the total price. If you sell information products from ClickBank (digital products), you can earn as much as 75% per sale.

However, if you sell physical products, such as chairs and tables from LinkShare retailers, such as Wal Mart, in most cases, you will earn a 7-15% commission at best. The main networks are Commission Junction (CJ.com – mainly pyhsical products) , LinkShare.com & Shareasale.com

3.) Newsletter Subscriptions

If the above 2 methods don’t sound that appealing to you, you can always consider getting newsletter subscriptions. You can create an opt-in page or a “squeeze page” on your blog and offer a subscription to your newsletter. If you provide quality content and promote your blog at the same time, you could end up with hundreds of subscribers over time. Then you can e.g. display Adsense on your blog or you could send them direct ads for any products you are selling.

4.) Selling Banner Ad Space & Text Links

Selling advertising space directly also is a good way of earning some residual income. If you want to do it this way, you need to have a page on your blog which is dedicated to advertising on your site. You need to list the different rates (e.g. weekly, monthly subscriptions) and your rules for what kind of ads you accept.

In case that you don’t want to handle all of this yourself, you can also use some third party services. Some of the most popular and known services in this area are:

Whatever you are doing, be sure to test each of these methods individually, so you can maximize the revenue from your blog. Most of these methods can be used on ANY website, though.
