Info Product Killer – Right In Time For Christmas!

For the last 7 years, I have been advocating the selling of digital products as it seemed to be the most profitable way of doing business online.

Nowadays, it seems that people are getting tired of ebooks, reports and other written courses.

It might be due to the economic climate but I’ve been noticing this trend even before the real estate crisis and the crash of some banks in the USA.

Sales for digital products, at least in my personal experience, are going down and people shy away from spending big money on items about which they don’t know if it will help them to make money.

So what DO people buy online then…?

People are still buying things which they would buy offline as well: Gifts, Entertainment Products, Electronics, Books etc.

The question is: How can you profit from this as well?

There are certain times of the year where people HAVE TO spend money (online of offline doesn’t matter).

And the best time of the year to make sales online for physical products is: Christmas.

Have you considered creating websites which are offering gifts for Christmas? You have probably been afraid that you would have to spend too much money in order to be visible when potential buyers are making their searches in the big search engines…

There’s an easy solution to this which doesn’t require you to spend tons of money, though.

It DOESN’T have anything to do with Clickbank! It rather has to do with Amazon and how you can make huge commissions by promoting their products in a very special way:

Leave a comment on my blog:

Let me know if that’s the case with YOU as well: Are you tired of ebooks and courses?

Do you think they’re too expensive, ineffective, repetitive or simply too boring…?

How To Generate Free Profits Without A List, A Website Or Even Your Own Product!

Again and again, I keep getting asked how someone can start making money without having to make big investments in expensive software or without having to buy big home study courses worth thousands of dollars, first.

These people usually have no money to invest and need money coming in quickly (sometimes, in as little as 7 days or their “house gets sold”, they “lose their car”, the “electricity gets cut off” or whatever other emergencies you can imagine…).

Below, you can read my answer to that:

Step 1: Find a niche

I guess, you’ve heard that before, haven’t you…? But how do you actually know WHAT you should sell…?

In the beginning, with your first project, I’d recommend selling stuff that you’re familiar with. Products which are related to maybe a hobby of yours or something that is related to your current job if you still have one. Not all hobbies or professions can be used to make money online with (e.g. if your hobby is “stamp collecting” and your job is “bath attendant” then I’d say better search for different niches to get into…) – so it really depends.

If it’s not possible to make money from your hobbies or job then go into a niche that you have at least some knowledge in e.g. you tried to stop smoking or you have tried so many diets and none of them worked and you want to share your experiences with other people in these areas.

There’s tons of stuff in the big affiliate networks on “stop smoking” or “weight loss” products. You should not try and sell Internet marketing related products just because there are other people out there who are making millions with it. If you don’t have any in depth knowledge in this area or any interest at all, you’re just wasting your time! (In case you have absolutely no idea which niche to choose, you could also try a tool called Niche Inspector by Myleena Phan – it’s an excellent tool for uncovering niches.)

The more you can be an authority in your chosen niche, the better. Because even though you can outsource a lot of stuff, you’ll do much better if you can write your own content because of the experience you have in that area. Freelancers do nothing but rewrite content that’s already available on the subjects. They’ll hardly ever write any groundbreaking news – unless they are real experts in the niches themselves…!

If you have a natural tone and you’re writing from your own experience, your readers will recognize that and connect with you. This will make it easier to sell them things at a later stage. You should try to become friends with them rather than trying to push every product that comes along your way. There’s a time for giving and there’s a time for selling. Try balancing it as much as you can and provide more content than pitches. It’s not always easy but that’s what you should be aiming for.

After you’re done deciding on the niche to get into, you should do your keyword research .

And no, you don’t have to buy any expensive keyword research tool because there’s a free one which got even better than it was before:

Google’s very own keyword tool

It’s now displaying the number of searches per month as well plus it’s showing this for the previous month, too. So if you’ve chosen “stop smoking” or “quit smoking” as your niche, then just enter it there. It will show you exactly how many times people have been searching for this word.

But what’s more important: It will also show you related keywords you can use to drive traffic to your pages. Because you won’t stand a chance to get listed for the main keywords – those usually are highly competitive! All you have to do is to check out the competition for these related keywords which are usually called the “longtail keywords” because in most cases, these less competitive phrases consist of 3 or more words.

And what can you use to do competition research, you might ask…

Google again! Just head over to their main page page and do a search for e.g. “how to stop smoking” in quotes like shown in this sentence and click on “Google Search”. You will then get the results for that query. You will see something like: Results 1 – 100 of about 801,000 for “how to stop smoking”.

And that’s your number of competitors . Usually, it’s even lower once you click on the last numbers of the other linked results pages but you get my drift.

So how competitive can it be and when will it be too competitive?

When I get into niches and I’m creating web pages for these longtail phrases, I try to avoid keywords that have more than 1 mio. competitors – although sometimes I’m making exceptions to that as well. I aim for keywords that have less than 100,000 competitors and I love keywords which have less than 10,000 competitors because these are quite easy to dominate.

If you’re a complete beginner, I’d go even lower: Choose keywords which have less than 1000 competing pages but which are getting at least 25 searches per day. They are not easy to find but they are there. It just requires some intensive keyword/competition research.

Step 2: Create a Squidoo & Hubpages account

Squidoo is an excellent platform for creating your own websites even if you have no idea about designing web pages. The only difference is that they call their individual, keyword based pages, “lenses” instead of web pages. But the basic SEO rules still apply and can be put into practice even more easily. Once you’ve got your content ready to go (my tip is to write it in Word or Notepad, first, I don’t recommend writing it in their editor because the text area is too small in my opinion), then it becomes just a matter of pasting your written review or article into the input field and clicking the save button.

You can also add YouTube videos, RSS feeds, Ebay, other related products etc. – they call these things “modules” and they’re very easy to add since you basically just have to add the keywords and they are doing the rest. Moreover, your Squidoo lens will automatically have Adsense on the page (using their Adsense ID) of which you get your share.

But your goal should be to get the clicks on your own ads because what you’re making from Squidoo itself will usually not be worth it. Squidoo works best for pre-selling your affiliate products. Once people click over to the salesletter, they are already in a buying mood because of what they read on your pages. At least, that’s how it should be…! Go ahead and sign up for Hubpages and make some cash

Alternatively, you can do the same thing on I repeat: This requires no knowledge about this techie stuff like designing web pages with HTML or PHP – you don’t even need a web editor. All of that is done online through a simple click and point process and maybe adding some info into forms. The resulting page(s) can be spidered and indexed just like regular pages. The whole process works quite similar on Hubpages – the only difference is that they provide less modules than Squidoo.

Step 3: – Sell digital or physical stuff

Affiliate Networks are the places where a lot of product sellers are showcasing their products and where they try to find affiliates to sell stuff for them.

You probably already know that affiliate marketing is much easier to start with than being a product owner. Because all you have to do as an affiliate is to do the pre-selling for the merchant’s products and then sending your visitors over to his website where the actual selling is done (hopefully, you’ll be doing it AFTER having collected their email addresses!!).

Affiliate marketing works best if you have a way to contact those highly interested people. That’s why almost every Internet marketer out there preaches that you have to build your list. You’ll simply be missing out on a lot of additional profits you could have made by collecting email addresses – if you’re not doing any list building activities.

Because if you don’t, you only have one shot at getting a sale while if you’ve got their email address, you can follow up with them and keep building a relationship and sending them useful content and promotions. Your chance of making a sale from repeat visitors using followups is at least 10-25 times higher than without it…!

Here are 2 of the biggest affiliate networks for digital products:

Clickbank & Paydotcom sell digital products like ebooks, software and e-courses. The great thing about promoting digital products is that they have the highest commission rates – many times it starts at 50% and goes as high as 75%! Simply go their marketplaces or and search for suitable offers related to your chosen niche – or you can even use the marketplace as your starting point if you’re not sure what to sell!

And here’s how you do it:

Sign up for Clickbank and sign up for Paydotcom and get your affiliate IDs (free with both). Then, you find products to promote and you simply create your affiliate links (this is done via their marketplaces, too) and promote them on Squidoo/Hubpages using review pages or simple articles about the topic of the product e.g. about “killing spyware” if you want to sell an anti-spyware tool.

That’s a much better place to start than in areas where you can only make 1-25% on physical products (like with Amazon), although it depends on the product prices. 10% commission on a $2250 plasma TV is still a good amount of money. So it depends. Generally, you can say that digital products pay better but are more competitive while with lots of physical products, there’s less competition out there.

With that said, here are the biggest affiliate networks if you want to specialize in selling physical products instead:

Commission Junction

Commission Junction, Shareasale, and LinkShare sell stuff you can actually touch – real physical products like books, perfume, furniture, car accessories etc. – you name it and they’ll certainly have it. Of course, it’s dependent on the products but commissions are seldom higher than 25%.

Personally, I prefer selling digital products since the whole sales process usually is smoother and the salesletters are converting better. With physical products, there are too many chances that the visitor gets confused or has too many choices to click away as the selling usually isn’t done on a salesletter type of site (direct response).

This can be different for certain types of products e.g “i-Pods” or “i-Phones” because of the high demand but generally speaking I’d say that you need more visitors to make the same number of sales as with digital products.

In conclusion: Once you know what niche to get into, there should be nothing left that’s holding you back. There are tons of products on all of the different affiliate networks I’ve just mentioned. I’ve given you a complete action plan on how you can make money without having to do any paid advertising and without you having to create your own HTML pages using some kind of web editor.

Now is the time for acting on it. Will you…?

There are hundreds of Internet marketers and even newbies who are making thousands per month from these tactics and they don’t have to make any monetary investments – not even for hosting (only for an autoresponder account if they do list building like they should)! If you still need more in depth info on affiliate marketing using platforms like Squidoo and Hubpages plus a few other platforms then I’d recommend John Child’s excellent Hinge Marketing Magic ebook

… or The Secret Cash Machine on Squidoo by Karl Pemberton if you want to be focused on Squidoo (works in the same way on Hubpages, too, though):

( These strategies also work great in combination with Chris Rempel’s Conduit Method since his ebook can tell you what kind of products you can promote and what content works best for them.)

That’s it for today… Whatever you do… make sure you finally get active!! There’s no excuse for not making a great income every month – only laziness.

…. What’s your excuse for not taking action?

The Google Duplicate Content Penalty – Myth or Reality?

There have been lots of discussions going on whether it’s still smart to be using duplicate content on your web pages. In this article, I want to give you my opinion about it and what I’ve personally noticed with regards to the use of PLR content or free reprint articles on my own websites and on my clients’ websites.

First of all, let’s have a look back 3-4 years ago. Back then, you could simply slap up a website which was scraping content from other sites or even from the search engine results pages (e.g. Traffic Equalizer as the one software which started it all) and you had a site that attracted a lot of visitors automatically because you had “optimized” content. Some people made a lot of money from these tactics (5 figures monthly) and they were building dozens of such sites on a daily basis.

Nowaways, these tactics are seen as “search engine spam” or “black hat tactics”. There is a time for everything and if people were making decent money with it then it fulfilled its purpose – at least for the developers of those scripts and the ones who were using it (yes, I had used it as well in the beginning…). But the search engines wised up and were taking measures to detect that kind of content.

The next step the “lazy” marketers were taking was the creation of automatic content sites. There were (and still are) tons of scripts out there which will allow you to fetch articles from article directories and from RSS feeds directly and create a whole website with this content. You simply enter a keyword (or multiple keywords) and with a few clicks of your mouse, you had a whole website. After some time, the search engines found out about it and in most cases your rankings and your Google Pagerank was gone overnight – and so was the income!

Especially, if you had been using nothing else than content which got published from an RSS feed automatically which was one of the latest trends and had been done in combination with WordPress or with scripts which then created an archive of these published RSS news on your server. Your site could survive longer if you had been using a completely unique and modified website template for it. If you were using a website template that had been provided by the developer of such a scraper/RSS script, then you had to be prepared to lose your site fairly quickly.

A different way of building sites quickly was by using a desktop software (or online versions for that matter) which created a complete site from PLR articles you had sitting on your harddrive. As long as it was still working with the search engines, I had done it as well – after all, it’s much quicker than to build something from scratch.

But what I’ve been noticing in the last few weeks and months from observing the rankings of dozens of those kind of sites was that these kind of sites were not getting great rankings anymore.

Personally, I’ve noticed a recent trend with my websites that completely new sites which have nothing but duplicate content on them are getting a greyed out Google toolbar (you need to have the Google toolbar installed to see this).

Meaning, they were penalized.

In the past, I had only seen this kind of penalty with scraper sites but Google has extended this to new, non-unique sites as well. At least, when you’re starting out with a new site, you should be adding unique content on a regular basis now. Once I had replaced the non-unique content with unique articles, the greyed out toolbar was gone and it was white instead. That means that with the next Google update, the site will be getting a Google Pagerank.

So what is the next logical step in this “cat and mouse game”…?

The next step can only be to provide Google with what it really wants: Great and unique content. Yes, I know, it might be hard to build a site completely from scratch and write unique content for it. I would prefer some kind of automation, too…. But in the end, you’ll be getting rewarded with more visitors from the search engines and better rankings in general and you’ll have more loyal visitors if they see that you’re providing unique content on your site.

Instead of giving your website visitors the quickest “exit” from your site by publishing rehashed and sometimes even very badly written PLR content and wanting them to click on your Adsense- or other PPC ads, you’ll attract visitors who’ll be staying on your site for much longer and who will be using your site as one of the first points of interest whenever they want to get new content on the same subject.

You can make use of this behaviour by offering them a free report or ebook and getting them on a mailing list. This way, you’ll be able to direct them to your website every time you have some new content and you’ll be able to make long term profits from your site by adding the proper monetization to it – not just from Adsense or affiliate programs.

You might also be able to get direct advertisers who want to advertise with you. This can mean easy monthly profits. A lot of sites which are getting many visitors are charging $200 and more for placing a simple banner on their site. In this case, you’ll be building a real business instead of relying on the latest “fad”.

I know this goes against most of what most others are preaching, that you need volume to build your VRE empire… One thing doesn’t exclude the other, though. While you, yourself might only be able to build very few sites using this tactic, you should be using the profits from these sites to start outsourcing as much as you can to get more sites up and running. Instead of adding new pages to these new sites yourself, you simply find someone to do it for you.

You go to sites like or and you post a project that you’re looking for a reliable writer who’ll be posting new content to your site on a regular basis. The easiest way to get this done is by using a WordPress blog. Pay this person per unique post (e.g. $2-3) and you’re looking at monthly costs which will be quite low for these regular updates (the posts don’t have to have the length of full blown articles – often 200-300 words are enough).

This is what I am personally doing now in combination with silo-structuring and LSI, I’m mainly doing Web 2.0 promotions and article marketing. With regards to my search engine rankings and visitors I must say that this has been the best step I’ve taken in a long time. There has hardly been something before that had such a dramatic impact on my rankings… and if you want to attract more visitors to your own sites then I suggest you start doing the same!

Subscriber Feedback – Re: What are you waiting for?

Good Morning, Detlev…

I found out a long time ago that what you are talking about in your email {“What are you waiting for…”}, what that link you included is really dealing with… at least I hope it is. It’s called “Fear of Success”. In a nutshell, it comes from your family, that you don’t have permission to grow or succeed past their level, the families place or station in life. We get programmed all our childhood to accept our place, station, in life, you are told over and over for years things like “We, our family, have always been {insert some job or trade, etc. here”}.

You could call it the “blue collar”, or “lower working class curse”. I heard it all my life, that we were workers. My Dad really only gave me one piece of advice that he had gotten when he was young “get a job and show up every day”. The idea he said was that if you showed up every morning you would work all day and that would get you a paycheck on Friday.

Sadly, too many people are programmed to only expect a typical paycheck on Friday for their whole life. They think they will never be allowed to climb up the ladder… That those places are for others and we aren’t like them. And it’s a terrible thing to live with and even harder to break out of. And the only way out is to get permission to exceed the traditional family limitations.

A few lucky ones learn that they can give themselves that needed permission, but it is a great struggle to develop that simple ability. The tragic fact of life is the great multitudes won’t, simply can’t for the above reasons. But then it wouldn’t be such a great society without them, without anyone to do the work that needs to be done. For they are, in fact, the fountain of wealth the few at the top live off of by taking a bit of what each produces for themselves. A few cents isn’t much by itself, but if one is taking a few cents from hundreds, or thousands, or millions it adds up nicely to a huge amount of wealth. And that is what the super rich do, have always done…

I’ll share with you the real secret Napoleon Hill discovered, what he alluded to in every chapter but never actually named outright… everything else he wrote is just supporting methods. And every self-help, how to do it, get rich, book, program, or system since then only takes a part or three of what he wrote in “Think and Grow Rich” and simply expounds on it a bit more, none of those have ever offered anything new, it’s something I had written on my wall years before I read his book, a “what to do with the great idea your mind gave you, or the desire you get for something”.

Just do IT.. NOW!

“Now” is the keyword, thinking about won’t get anything done If you can give yourself permission and then just do it NOW you will succeed. His thirteen basic principles are simply tools to help you get it done faster. And that’s why 99% of the people that buy all the books and systems and all the rest never ever use them, they simply don’t have permission to do it, to go forth farther and succeed.

Someone loaned me their copy of “The Secret” last week and from what I read it boils down to about the same thing, their slant is kinda like self hypnosis to give yourself permission to get what you want, to be able to accept it when it shows up. And again it’s you that must do it, what ever that is which is required to go get the thing you want. Like they teach in school for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, that is because the universe demands balance.

You can share this if you want, even look deeper into it so you can share a deeper understanding of what it is and how to learn to give permission and then do it NOW. And if it makes you a new bundle of money maybe you’ll share back what you think it was worth…

Keep up the good work,
